This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to join an international team dedicated to improving working conditions in factories around the world. The Fair Labor Association (FLA) works with brand name companies, universities and civil society organizations to enforce labor standards and develop innovative strategies to end sweatshop abuses around the world.

The FLA Assessment, Capacity Building and Training Program is hiring a Communications Senior Assistant to assist in developing assessment and training tools, create off - and online information material and revise survey reports.

Primary Duties

• Review and edit all written material created in the Shanghai office, including reports, text for websites, survey tools etc..

• Create marketing material to present FLA Assessment & Survey tools, reports and online resources.

• Conceptualize Training Web-sites

• Reach out to members and non-members to increase usage of FLA assessment and survey tools and online resources

Required Skills

• English needs to be first language - excellent writing and editing skills

• Above average skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point)

• Creativity

• Express complex ideas in simple words

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Masters degree in Sociology, Law or related field

• Thorough understanding of labor issues, human rights issues and corporate social responsibility.

• Experience in marketing

• Experience with website layout and online training is a plus

The FLA is hiring an Asssitant to the President and CEO

Primary Duties

1.Maintain the president’s calendar in China ; schedule meetings and calls with constituents in China. This is to include meeting preparation and follow up.

2. Assist the president in prioritizing items for his work in China; coordinate with the Executive Director and other key staff on organizational objectives and processes.

3. Manage and plan the president’s travel schedule in China.

4. Assist the president in managing email correspondence.

5. Inform the president on relevant news, events, legal changes in China regarding labor related issues.

6. Manage smaller research tasks at the president's request.

7. Translate correspondence/articles from Chinese to English, and English to Chinese

8. Create and maintain liaisons with government agencies and the private sector important to the FLA.

Required Skills

• Native Chinese speaker

• Excellent English and translation skills ( Chinese - English - Chinese)

• Above average skill in preparing documents and presentations

• Candidates needs to be highly reliable, well-spoken and well-informed

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Masters degree in English, Politics, Law or related field

• Understanding of labor issues, human rights issues and corporate social responsibility is a plus

• Experience in the international department of a government agency or company
