PR & Education Officer – Guangzhou & Shenzhen

Reporting relationship

Direct reporting responsibilities to the China Dr Dog Manager

Location

Animals Asia Foundation (AAF) – Guangzhou, Guangdong

Employment Type

Full Time, five (5) days a week with some weekend work applicable.

Primary Objective of the Position

Promote and advocate AAF and its campaigns, education projects, and events to the general public in Guangzhou and Shenzhen; increase the public awareness of animal welfare issues and recognition of Animals Asia’s work on the problem.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

·         Guangzhou and Shenzhen PR: develop and promote AAF and its campaigns to the general public by Internet, Medias, celebrities, advertisement, newsletter, special events, volunteers/supporters, advocating materials in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

·         Guangzhou and Shenzhen Education: cooperate with Dr Dog officer on developing and organizing the "care for animals" education projects in Guangzhou and Shenzhen schools and universities.

·         Guangzhou and Shenzhen campaign: cooperate with Dr Dog officer on layout, developing and organizing the companion animal campaigns and events in Guangzhou, Shenzhen. Such as World Animal Day Ceremony, Friend or Food events, symposium, the public education events, special Dr Dog visits, Pro Paws Funny Day, and etc.

·         Spreading animal welfare message in Guangzhou and Shenzhen: developing and spreading Moon Bear Rescue and other animal welfare message (except companion animal issue) in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

·         Companion animal materials translation: translation for documents, website pages, or other relevant materials of companion animal in the countrywide area, and sometimes help on interpretation.

·         Help on countrywide PR and campaigns in companion animal field.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications

·         Knowledge and years working experience of PR, education, and event management;

·         Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, Public Relations, media, or relevant field;

·         Experience, passion and personal interest in animal protection;

·         Know well in companion animal issue, especially cats & dogs, having dog or cat raising experience is a plus;

·         Would like to work in a NGO, minimum 1-2 years NGO working or volunteer experience is a plus;

Key Skills & Abilities

·         Excellent oral and writing skills in both English and Chinese with very good command of grammar and language;

·         Excellent skills in writing; Strong skills in communication, coordination, presentation and lobby;

·         Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and to meet tight deadlines, strong time management, organizational skills, discretion and adaptability;

·         Self-supporting in computer, proficiency with Windows, Internet, MS Office Suite especially Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; Other;

·         Be able to work in a team, and work independently.

·         Willingness to update professional knowledge and skills.
